Almost like magic a new Rolls-Royce office structure is taking shape before our eyes. A massive crane is lowering prefab modules into place on concrete piers. The Community Foundation’s contribution to this project was its collaboration with the City on Mount Vernon in acquiring the former Certified gas station across Sandusky Street, to offset the loss parking spaces displaced by the new construction. A grant of $62,500 from the Harold and Roberta Johnson Economic Development Fund helped acquire the property, and an additional grant of $8,500 will provide for landscaping along Sandusky and East Chestnut Streets. The City will also be improving traffic signals and expanding the turning radius to better accommodate semi traffic at this intersection. This is yet another great example of business, local government and philanthropic organizations working together to improve our community!
