Danville volleyball player Monica Honabarger could have enjoyed the spotlight Tuesday on Senior Night as the team’s only graduating member. Instead she used the opportunity to present to Community Foundation Executive Director a check for $1,850 to add to the Josie Lynne Kaylor Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund. The gift is the result of a benefit tee-shirt sale that she and other students conducted in the Danville community in memory of their former teammate, who died last spring in an auto accident. Josie’s parents, Brent and Renee Kaylor, and many other members her extended family, were present to hear Monica’s tribute to Josie and to express their own appreciation for the outpouring of love and support from the entire Danville Community.

Sam Barone told the audience that the scholarship fund now exceeds $20,000 with the addition of the students’ donation.

Others interested in contributing to theĀ fund may do so by following the “Donate Now” link on the Community Foundation website.
